Beautiful church in Barcelona, Spain that offers a quiet retreat to travellers. Sant Francesc de Sales is overshadowed by more famous landmarks in the city and it’s quite many of them in the city of Barcelona, but it’s a hidden gem very worth visiting not only because it’s perfect for reflection and peace. Also, because of it’s interesting history.

When people think about Barcelona, Antoni Gaudi comes to mind. I know many people in love with the city and they also love Antoni, and there is so many beautiful places designed by him, it was his city.

But why I write about Gaudi when sharing an image of the Sant Frances the Sales church?

The Sant Frances de Sales church is a hidden gem, a work done by the architect Juan Martorell I Montells a very important figure in Catalan architecture, who was also the main mentor of Antoni Gaudi. So if you’re traveling in Barcelona or still working on your itinerary, beside visiting all Antoni Gaudi places, why not to visit the church that was the work of his main mentor?

Not only you will have a chance to a beautiful piece of art (that bridges traditional Gothic Revival with modern techniques), which is also not overly crowded, considered the most important work of Juan Martorell I Montells.

As it’s considered one of the most beautiful churches in Barcelona, it’s also located in a perfect spot, in between La Pedrera – Casa Milà and Basílica de la Sagrada Família, works by Antoni Gaudi.
