Golden Autumn Leaves on a Sunny Day

It was taken during my autumnal walk on a gorgeous, sunny day in Poland, and in those kind of days the nature gives us autumn that’s positive, vibrant and full of spectacular colors. Green, summer leaves are all transformed to beautiful shades of gold, amber and everything in between.

Magical time for the eye and often favorite time for photographers.

Did you know that the colors of autumn leaves are hidden in the leaves year-round? When the temperature drops, chlorophyll (the chemical that keeps leaves green) breaks down, revealing the vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows we associate with fall.

The particular mix of colors in each leaf is influenced by temperature, light, and water supply, creating a unique display each year. I didn’t know that before my research just a moment ago, you can read more about the science of fall colors if you’re interested in the topic.

For me, but also what’s common to some cultures, autumn leaves symbolize change and letting go. With fallen leaves, autumn encourages us to release old patterns so the new growth may take place. On sunny days it gives us hope that the change can be beautiful and bring positive aspects associated with it.

As summer is the time to enjoy life and everything outdoors, autumn is a season of coziness. With temperature drop, we tend to gather indoors, bringing warmth and comfort to each other.

Autumn is just a perfect time, to sip on hot apple cider, put on the first pieces of wood to the fireplace and watch the season change outside, beautiful colors of autumn, falling leaves and so on.

While we slow down the pace of life, the photographers grab their cameras and enjoy some autumn photography, catching the autumnal vibrancy but also the nostalgic vibes the season brings to us. Autumn offers unique lighting and natural hues that photographers love. The softer light of autumn mornings and afternoons casts a warm glow, enhancing the rich tones of leaves and landscapes.

Autumn has also a certain melancholy, winter preparation time. Leaving behind what’s not needed and inviting the new. The season brings, at least to me, time for internal reflections, sometimes sadness, sometimes happiness. Depends if it’s a sunny day like the one I took this picture.
