Valladolid Spain Tapas & Beer – Authentic Morcilla and Picadillo

Let’s just admit, that when we are all going to Spain we just can’t wait to enjoy some good tapas. And for the fancy ones, tapas and beer (or wine?). Of course the “fancy” is just a joke.

But it certainly something I like to try in any place in Spain, and in Valladolid these tasty bites and beers where so, so good.

It’s easy to think about jamon and other meats that we associate the Spain with, however in this restaurant I had a chance to try something different, and extremely tasty. I’m talking about morcilla and jijas tapas.

Morcilla, is a blood sausage tapa, the one on the left. In the region of Castilla y León, morcilla has its own unique flavor, so when you’re in Valladolid, just give it a try.

Jijas, commonly known as picadillo, a traditional spiced ground pork prepared with paprika and other seasoning. When it comes to the name, picadillo can sometimes refer more generally to any finely minced meat in Spain, while jijas specifically refers to this spiced pork mixture.

When talking about Valladolid and tapas, it’s important to mention about the National Tapas Competition, which takes place in the city in November. It is said that it is the World’s Biggest Live Food Competition, would be good to be there for food lovers.

When traveling to Spain in November, think about adding it to your itinerary or a bucket list for later years for an unique thing to enjoy in the city.

La Tapa del Barrio Húmedo (son dos bares) is the place in Valladolid where I enjoyed shared tapas, a place that has unique room downstairs, great for people looking for some cooler temperatures when it’s hot outside.
