Charming Monk Parakeet bird near Park Guell, Barcelona

Monk Parakeet, beautiful social birds I met on my way to Park Guell in Barcelona. Sharing with you one of them, seating on a nearby tree, next to the parking lot just next to the park’s entrance. Snacking on a piece of bread shared by people around.

It was my main attraction near the Park, and don’t get me wrong. It’s not that the Park Guell is not beautiful, but how would I know, I didn’t have the chance to enter. Why you might wonder?

I arrived to Barcelona just few hours before, and after having my first proper Spanish breakfast. I searched for things to enjoy and Park Guell sounded more than perfect. To get there I had a chance to stroll and hike a bit to get there, enjoying beautiful streets of Barcelona.

The walk was very pleasing, and I still remember how excited about seeing the park I was when it was just few hundred meters away.

What a disappointment it also was when after arrival to the Park, I was told that all the tickets were sold out, even for the next day. So, fellow travellers, when traveling to Barcelona and if Park Guell Park is on your bucket list, make sure you buy your tickets ahead of time!

Otherwise it will be scratched from your travel itinerary within seconds, bringing such disappointment.

After such a nice but still, long walk, I had a problem to just give up and continue on my journey, I hanged around the entrance for couple of minutes, and that was when those little green parrots appeared, later on I found they are called “Monk Parakeet” birds.

They were so social, so friendly and so food-searching, that I had to spend some time and photograph them.

I’m very pleased with the closeup picture I had a chance to take of this green parrot on the tree eating a piece of bread, thanks to it I felt like the long walk was worth it even without visiting the Park.

Soon after, I could follow on my journey to my next destination, the Sau Pau Hospital in Barcelona.
