Segovia Sunset Landscape: A View from Mirador del Alcázar

It was a nice, short hike to Mirador del Alcazar, a viewpoint from where I was planning to take a picture of the Alcazar de Segovia, the iconic fortress that inspired Walt Disney’s Sleeping Beauty castle, and that’s from where, facing the other direction I enjoy this beautiful landscape as well.

The landscape we see it’s one of the many you can enjoy while visiting Segovia, the city in Castilla y León, Spain, especially from the castle’s grounds.

But I like this view on the picture, it was taken from a popular, but much less popular spot that every tourist visits. Cause who would be that crazy to go for a hike while traveling, right? Well, actually many do, as it’s not a long trip from the city centre by walking.

Certainly, I recommend visiting the Mirador del Alcazar viewpoint if you want to get away from the crowds and enjoy some alone time and beautiful view in a daytime.

But also when the sun sets, the view becomes even more magical (especially the castle). The fading daylight highlights the contrast between the lush green countryside and the warm, earthy tones of the town’s architecture.

This spot isn’t just for photographers – it’s for anyone who appreciates the beauty of nature meeting history.

If you’re a traveler, and wondering if you should visit Segovia… I certainly think it is. It was one of the places I felt like I had to visit.

It’s also very affordable for travelers. Entrance to many of the town’s landmarks, including the Alcázar, is reasonably priced. The Mirador del Alcázar itself is free to visit, making it a perfect destination for budget travelers who still want an unforgettable experience.

The castle, is not the only thing to see, I actually wonder what’s more popular and brings tourists, the castle or the Roman Aqueduct? Most probably not only both of them, but also other things you can enjoy in Segovia, which’s old town is listed in UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Plus it’s just a short train ride away from Madrid, a perfect 1-2 day stop before heading by bus to Valladolid. That’s what I did and I think it was a perfect travel itinerary, packed with many attractions and places.

So, on the final note, if you’re considering a trip to Spain, make sure Segovia is on your itinerary. And if you’re already planning to visit, don’t miss the chance to witness this stunning sunset view from the Mirador del Alcázar.
