About the Picture
This picture shows Tokyo Tower from Shiba Park in Tokyo, Japan. I took it on 30 September 2024, during a walk that started with Zojo-ji Temple and slowly turned into one of those nice unplanned Tokyo moments.
I remember arriving near Zojo-ji Temple on a cloudy, rainy morning. The plan for the day was simple: visit the temple, learn more about it, and explore the grounds without rushing. At that point, I did not even fully realize how close I was to Tokyo Tower, Shiba Park, and a few other places that would make the walk much better than expected.
Luckily, the rain stopped and the sun came out. That changed the whole mood of the visit. Instead of hiding from the weather, I could walk around properly, look at the temple details, and enjoy that interesting Tokyo contrast: old wooden gates, quiet temple space, city buildings, and Tokyo Tower rising nearby.
One reason Zojo-ji Temple is worth visiting is that it is not just a beautiful temple near a famous landmark. It has a strong connection with the Tokugawa shoguns, and the official Tokyo travel guide describes it as a temple complex housing the tombs of six Tokugawa shoguns.
For me, that makes the area feel more layered. You are not only looking at a nice Tokyo view. You are walking through a place where history and modern city life stand very close together.
And that is what makes this part of Minato City so worth visiting.
When you think about how many places connected with Tokyo’s history, culture, and skyline are almost a stone’s throw away from each other here, the area becomes more than a quick landmark stop. Zojo-ji Temple, Tokyo Tower, Shiba Park, Shiba Toshogu Shrine, and Shiba Maruyama Kofun can all become part of one slow walk.
Zojo-ji Temple is also a great place to photograph the temple with Tokyo Tower in the background. That classic view is beautiful, but it is not where I took this particular photo.
After visiting the temple, I continued toward Shiba Park, which felt like the right place to slow down, walk a little more, and look for a different angle.
Before reaching the spot where I took this image, I entered the park near the plum grove. It was not plum blossom season, so there were no dramatic flowers waiting for me there. But the walk was still lovely. Sometimes that is enough, right? You do not always need perfect timing or perfect weather.
A quiet path, a bit of greenery, and a famous tower appearing through the city can already make the day feel special.
From that part of Shiba Park, I also walked up to Shiba Toshogu Shrine and Shiba Maruyama Kofun, an ancient keyhole-shaped burial mound in the park.
I did not plan this small detour in advance, and I liked exactly that. It felt like finding a quiet historical corner in a part of Tokyo I first treated mainly as a temple visit.
From there, it was only a short walk to the place where I took this photo. The picture itself is mostly about Tokyo Tower, not Shiba Park as a landscape. You can see trees and nearby high-rises, but the tower and the sky are the main characters here.
I liked how the cloudy blue sky gave the image more atmosphere, kind of like leftovers the rain left on the sky. It was not a clean postcard sky, but maybe that is why I enjoy the picture. It feels more like a real travel day.
Tokyo Tower is one of Tokyo’s most recognizable landmarks. The official Tokyo Tower website describes it as a 333-metre-tall landmark, and that height is part of its charm. A fun detail is that Tokyo Tower is still slightly taller than the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
Another detail I like is that the tower is not technically painted red and white. Tokyo Tower explains that the colours are international orange and white, and that the outside repainting work is done by hand using brushes. That little fact makes the tower feel even more human to me. It is such a big structure, but it still needs careful hands to keep that familiar look.
This is why I think this image can be useful for more than a simple travel post. It is a free Tokyo Tower picture, but it also carries a small story: rainy morning, temple visit, Shiba Park walk, old Tokyo history, modern skyline, and a tower that still feels classic.
For bloggers, writers, and website owners, this can work well as a Tokyo cityscape photo for Japan travel guides, Tokyo itinerary articles, posts about Zojo-ji Temple, city walk stories, or articles about famous landmarks in Japan. The landscape orientation also makes it practical for an article cover, slide deck, or a part of the blog post.

Useful Notes About Tokyo Tower, Shiba Park and Nearby Places
Is Shiba Park a good place to see Tokyo Tower?
Yes, Shiba Park is a good area for seeing Tokyo Tower from different angles. Some views feel open and green, while others include nearby buildings, paths, trees, and small historical places. It is especially nice if you want a Tokyo Tower walk instead of only visiting the tower itself.
Can you visit Zojo-ji Temple and Tokyo Tower on the same walk?
Yes. Zojo-ji Temple and Tokyo Tower are very close to each other, so they work well together in one Tokyo itinerary. This is one of the best things about the area: you can see temple history, modern city views, park paths, and Tokyo Tower without needing a complicated plan.
What else can you see near Shiba Park?
Near Shiba Park, you can visit places such as Zojo-ji Temple, Shiba Toshogu Shrine, Shiba Maruyama Kofun, and Tokyo Tower. For me, this made the walk more interesting because it did not feel like one single sightseeing stop. It felt like a small route through different layers of Tokyo.
Is Tokyo Tower taller than the Eiffel Tower?
Tokyo Tower is 333 metres tall, while the Eiffel Tower in Paris is now 330 metres tall after its antenna update. So yes, Tokyo Tower is still slightly taller. The comparison is fun because Tokyo Tower was inspired by the Eiffel Tower, but it became its own classic symbol of Tokyo.
Can I use this Tokyo Tower image for my blog or article?
Yes. You can use this Tokyo Tower image under the CC BY 4.0 license with attribution. It can work well for travel blogs, Tokyo guides, Japan articles, city walk posts, website headers, newsletters, and editorial projects.
