About the Picture
Often called “green lung” of Madrid, El Retiro Park. Shared picture was taken at sunset, and it’s a Great Pond of El Retiro Park, a place where you can rent rowboats and canoes. Sounds like a perfect date plan, right?
El Retiro Park is huge and I must admit that I had a chance to enjoy it only for about 1-2 hours, on my short trip to Madrid. However, I can tell you couple of things about the place.
It’s easily accessible as it’s located in the heart of Madrid, it has gardens, beautiful monuments, lakes, galleries… magnificent building… and many spots you can escape to, on those hot Madrid summer days. It’s extremely popular, so when you’re in Madrid next time, just check it for yourself and maybe practice some yoga, rollerblade or I would suggest… rent a rowboat!
Recently, it was named UNESCO World Heritage Site – 125 hectares of green oasis in the heart of the city with over 15,000 trees that will welcome you with a nice shade during hot summer days. Oh, and Retiro Park doesn’t pay me to compliment it so much.
