Segovia Cathedral in Spain: Iconic Urban Landscape in Segovia, Spain

About the Picture

The “Lady of Cathedrals”, Cathedral of Segovia, an amazing architecture, the truly last Gothic cathedral in the whole Spain, which can be seen from anywhere while walking the streets of Segovia (listed in UNESCO World Heritage Sites).

When you think about Segovia city, the Aqueduct, Alcázar castle and the Cathedral are main “things” that come to mind and certainly they are all that should be in your itinerary when traveling to Segovia, and everything else you will enjoy will be a cherry on cake that’s already so tasty.

Quite anywhere you go in the city, you will see the Cathedral, as it’s located at the highest point. It provided a commanding view over the city and the surrounding landscape. This strategic placement also made it a significant symbol of both religious and civic pride in the region.

When you reach the Plaza Mayor, you will be stunned by the details of its beautiful architecture, a truly magnificent building I wish I had a chance to explore from the inside.

Many bloggers and travellers compare it to the Cathedral in Toledo and are impressed about its beauty, check this blog post by GlobeTrove, in which they share great information on what to focus on while inside the Cathedral.

If you have a chance, visit the interior!

When there is no clear winner, and I so say, if you love architectures and can travel to Toledo and Segovia (both easily accessible from Madrid), visit both, as those are the cities that should be visited.

Shared picture was taken while enjoying the “Senda de los Suspiros” walking trail, which simply was found by walking around the city. It was a perfect walk, away from all the crowd, enjoying the city in solitude, deeply touched by its beauty and charm.

Visiting Segovia is like going back in time, a city feels like stepping back in time, with its cobblestone streets, ancient city walls, and panoramic views that make it a dream destination for history enthusiasts.
