Dome of the National Art Museum of Catalonia in Barcelona

About the Picture

National Art Museum of Catalonia in Barcelona, Spain and it’s dome. As I have always been a great fan of architecture, whenever I go, it’s something that I often admire and domes, or maybe in this case I should call it “cupola”, have something to the eye, that bring our attention.

Barcelona, visited on my last day of the trip to Spain, and my last day, before taking the flight back home in the evening was not planned, and someway I ended up visiting National Art Museum of Catalonia in Barcelona, the external surroundings (so I won’t be able to share anything about the museum exhibitions at all), a perfect place to end the trip, especially it was so well connected with the airport I had to catch a plane in the evening.

It’s a beautiful building with gorgeous surroundings, spots to enjoy the view from the top of Barcelona, close by you will find the Montjuic castle to enjoy (I had no time for that) and many more attractions… not to mention, so great places to enjoy good food!

The National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC) sits majestically on Montjuïc Hill. It’s a gem of architectural splendor. The museum’s building, the Palau Nacional, was constructed for the 1929 International Exposition. Designed by architects Eugenio Cendoya and Enric Catà, it blends Spanish Renaissance and Baroque styles.

The dome of the MNAC is its crown jewel, drawing eyes upward with its grandeur and elegance. Was inspired by St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican, the dome exudes a sense of grandeur and timeless beauty. Supposedly, at night, the dome is illuminated, creating a breathtaking silhouette against the Barcelona skyline but due to my evening plane, I could only enjoy it during the daytime. What a boomer.

If you need the picture of the Palace in front, check Montjuic National Palace picture.

Anyway, feel free to download the image and use it in your articles/blog posts, whether you’re writing about travel, architecture, or art, this stunning dome can enhance your content.
